Several people were killed and others sustained serious injuries after a vehicle traveled the wrong way on an Irish highway, according to police.
Commissioner Justin Kelly called the head‑on crash between two vehicles on the M9 “horrific,” noting that, in some instances, drivers travel the wrong way seeking social‑media attention.
Police said they are investigating the incident, which occurred near junction 3 around 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Among the seriously injured is a child.
Emergency responders were notified of a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the M9.
The vehicle was traveling between junctions 3 and 4 when it struck another car head‑on.
