West Ham United has turned down a loan proposal from Aston Villa for full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Villa’s initial loan overture was rejected by West Ham.
According to The Athletic (July 7), West Ham is open to selling Wan-Bissaka this summer and has placed a valuation of £25 million ($33.5 million) on the former Manchester United defender. Villa have now intensified their interest, aiming to reach an agreement below that price after their loan proposal was postponed.
Villa have been exploring a transfer for the 28‑year‑old Wan-Bissaka in recent weeks, as manager Unai Emery seeks to reinforce the right‑back position and add competition for Matty Cash.
A potential move for Emerson Royal — formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and now at Flamengo — failed to materialise, while The Athletic reported on Monday evening that Kosta Nedeljkovic is poised to join Rangers on an initial loan, with a £4 million obligation contingent on appearances.
In the previous campaign, Wan-Bissaka made 25 league appearances for West Ham as the club were relegated to the Championship. He started two of the Hammers’ final seven matches, with Kyle Walker‑Peters taking over at right‑back after Wan‑Bissaka featured for DR Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Overall, Wan-Bissaka has logged 65 appearances across his two seasons with West Ham, having previously made 190 appearances for Manchester United, where he contributed to titles in the 2023 League Cup and the 2024 FA Cup.
