The United States will dispatch a delegation to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2026 Third Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM3) in Dalian, China, from August 17 to 28. This participation is aimed at advancing America First foreign, trade, and investment policies by fostering economic opportunities across the region.
Casey Mace, U.S. Senior Official for APEC, will lead the interagency team at SOM3. U.S. officials will focus on creating new opportunities for American businesses in critical sectors, including agriculture, energy, transportation, fisheries, health, and food security. Through U.S.-led events, the delegation will work to reduce barriers to services exports, expand partnerships that highlight private sector innovations in supply chains, and lead discussions on trade and labor standards.
Ruth Perry, Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Ocean, Fisheries, and Polar Affairs, will head the Ocean Tech Solutions Workshop during the Oceans and Fisheries Working Group meeting. The workshop will leverage American innovations, such as satellite monitoring technology, to support APEC’s efforts in combating illegal fishing and marine debris, thereby promoting responsible ocean economic development.
U.S. leadership in APEC is integral to pursuing America First policies that drive prosperity and economic growth. By breaking down trade barriers, enhancing fair and reciprocal trade, and supporting job creation, the United States aims to strengthen its economic position both domestically and across the Asia-Pacific region.
