Barcelona are closing in on a move for Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, with the transfer valued at £8.6m (10 million euros).
The transfer of the Brazil international is believed to be in an advanced stage, and despite final details still being finalized, the move is expected to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline.
Napoli had expressed interest in Jesus, but the 29-year-old is poised to sign with last season’s La Liga champions and will travel for a medical examination on Monday.
Jesus moved to Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022, netting 32 goals and providing 22 assists in 123 appearances for the club.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told reporters on Thursday that Jesus was not training with the squad ahead of Monday’s Premier League match against Aston Villa (20:00 BST).
When pressed on whether that indicated Jesus was departing, Arteta responded: “Personal situations, whatever they are, I think it’s clear.”
Jesus would become Barcelona’s third Premier League signing this summer, after Anthony Gordon from Newcastle and Rodri from Manchester City.
Earlier this week, Barcelona’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Álvarez—also an Arsenal target—appeared to stall after sources informed BBC Sport that Atletico would not negotiate with their Spanish rivals.
