[Aberdeen at Risk of Sanction After Fan Breach at Rugby Park]
Aberdeen could face disciplinary action after supporters illegally entered the Rugby Park pitch following their Premier Sports Cup win over Kilmarnock on Saturday.
Jack Milne netted the decisive penalty to seal a 3‑1 shootout victory after the match remained level 1‑1 at the end of extra time, and the Dons will meet Rangers in next month’s semi‑final at Hampden Park.
The tournament organiser, the Scottish Professional Football League, will investigate the post‑match incident in East Ayrshire and also request an explanation from Pittodrie regarding the use of pyrotechnics during the quarter‑final.
The SPFL reduced Rangers and Celtic’s Allocation for Hampden after the extensive flare usage disrupted last season’s League Cup semi‑finals.
Meanwhile, the SPFA and the Scottish FA are considering stricter accountability for unacceptable conduct in Scottish football.
Rangers and Celtic have each been ordered to host their subsequent home matches in the Scottish Cup behind closed doors following trouble arising from a quarter‑final clash at Ibrox in March.
