Tovah Feldshuh, the actress who portrays Adam Brody’s mother Bina in Netflix’s series Nobody Wants This, has shared her reaction to Brody’s recent pro‑Palestinian remarks.
In a fresh interview, Feldshuh outlined her perspective following Brody’s call for a free Palestine.
“To accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild,” Feldshuh told The New York Post. “It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim, and you make the victim the perpetrator.”
Brody, who shares Feldshuh’s Jewish heritage, drew significant attention after a recent GQ interview in which he criticized Israel’s military actions.
“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine,” the actor who portrays Rabbi Noah Roklov in the Netflix series said. “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago. I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.”
Series creator Erin Foster has since stated that she disagrees with Brody’s position.
“You know, it’s complicated,” she said, noting that the set resembles a dinner table where differing views are debated. “While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that’s okay.” Foster made the comments during an upcoming episode of the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
Foster continued, “As the creator of the show, I want our Jewish fans to know that I see you, I hear you, and I understand how you feel. The series has always been—and will always remain—a love letter to Judaism. Becoming Jewish has been a beautiful experience for me, and I believe that in a time when positive Jewish representation is scarce, this series is crucial. That said, everyone is entitled to a different opinion. I can tell you what I created this show for and what its intention is.”
