According to sources within AEW, Janai Kai is currently under contract with the company. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether she holds a full-time position or is engaged to a per-appearance agreement.
Since May 2026, Kai has become a consistent fixture on Ring of Honor programming, competing against major roster talent including Athena, Deonna PurrazZO, Mina Shirakawa, Billie Starkz, Maya World, and Queen Aminata. The 27‑year‑old also brings deep experience from Ring of Honor, where she began her tenure during the promotion’s latter phase in 2021.
Prior to her recent appearance on RLFM, Kai spent more than a year and a half training and competing with MLW. During that stint she captured the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship, becoming the longest‑reigning champion in the division’s history. Kai is also well known for her work with AEW, making multiple guest appearances in 2021 and 2022 where she shared the ring with heavyweights such as Jade Cargill and Athena.
