Running back Phillips This formally committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, solidifying his decision following a productive visit to Tuscaloosa. Phillips, who had been weighing offers from Ohio State, NC State, and Penn State, canceled an official visit to Florida State earlier this season. He will begin his official visit to Alabama this Friday. Alabama’s second High School Camp of the year will take place this weekend, with multiple prospects expected to attend.
In his 2025 season, Phillips accumulated 116 carries for 919 yards (7.9 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns across seven games. His speed was highlighted by a 10.86-second 100-meter dash and a 22.04-second (1.2 seconds per yard) 200-meter sprint. Currently ranked as a three-star prospect, Phillips is projected to rise in rankings following the summer camps and the upcoming dead period starting June 22. Hailing from Fayetteville, North Carolina, he will attend Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina, for the 2025 season.
With Phillips and previously committed running back Nigel Newkirk—who announced his decision on May 31—already on board, Alabama appears to have finalized its 2027 recruiting class at the running back position.
