2026 has proven to be an exceptional year for Alan Ritchson, and the coming week is set to be his most significant yet. The actor headlines the final two episodes of Reacher season four, with the spin-off series Neagley premiering on the same day as the season finale—a project in which Ritchson appears in a guest capacity. Simultaneously, his action film Motor City continues gaining traction on PVOD, while his latest action vehicle prepares for theatrical release. In total, Ritchson’s admirers have four new projects to enjoy within a single week, alongside his record-breaking film War Machine, which debuted on Netflix earlier this year.

Ritchson’s upcoming theatrical release, Runner, stars Owen Wilson and was directed by Scott Waugh, whose credits include Expend4bles and Need for Speed. Ritchson and Wilson portray an unlikely duo tasked with transporting a liver to a critically ill girl while being pursued by mercenaries. Just months prior, Ritchson starred alongside Kevin James in the buddy action film Playdate, released on Prime Video. His forthcoming collaboration with Wilson will receive a theatrical distribution through Angel Studios, a faith-based company that has achieved considerable success in recent years.

Alan Ritchson Has a Packed Slate

The film in question, Runner, should not be confused with the recently released action picture titled The Runner starring Gal Gadot. Fortunately for Ritchson and his collaborators, their film has avoided critical disaster. It currently holds a 55% score on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas Gadot’s similarly titled production sits at just 9%. For context, a film sharing the same title starring Nicolas Cage was released in 2015 and currently stands at a 24% score. The latest season of Reacher has maintained the show’s reputation for critical excellence with a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Motor City has been praised for its stylish action choreography, achieving a 60% score. Looking ahead, Ritchson has a sequel to War Machine in development, along with a Prime Video Christmas-themed action-comedy featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and a biopic centered on a Vietnam War veteran.
