Alaska Air Group is making its most significant investment in premium travel by introducing new luxury offerings for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, aimed at competing for high-spending travelers seeking enhanced comfort and service. The company launched two key initiatives this week: Aurora for Alaska Airlines and Leihōkū for Hawaiian Airlines. These premium experiences will feature lie-flat suites, dedicated check-in desks, concierge services, upgraded dining, and access to exclusive lounges starting in 2028.
Additionally, Alaska Air Group introduced Premium Reserve, a new premium economy cabin offering wider seats, increased legroom, and improved amenities. This class will debut in 2028 on Alaska’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners and select Boeing 737-10 MAX aircraft, as well as Hawaiian Airlines’ Airbus A330 fleet.

International Boeing 787 Dreamliner routes will feature lie-flat suites equipped with private doors, restaurant-quality meals, direct aisle access, Starlink high-speed connectivity, dedicated concierge support, and access to the new Aurora Lounge in Seattle. Select transcontinental Boeing 737-10 MAX flights will also introduce these cabins in 2028.
For Leihōkū, meaning “starfish,” the suite technology will expand across Hawaiian Airlines’ fleet of 24 Airbus A330s. The experience includes redesigned lie-flat suites with privacy doors, refreshed cabin interiors, island-inspired cuisine, personalized check-in, and dedicated concierge services, plus entry to a nearly 13,000-square-foot lounge in Honolulu.
Premium Reserve adds wider seats providing 38 inches of pitch, superior recline capabilities, enhanced leg and calf support, refined dining options, and 16-inch 4K entertainment systems aboard both carriers’ long-haul aircraft.

The premium strategy extends beyond aircraft interiors, with Alaska Air Group expanding its lounge network national. A Hawaiian Lounge spanning approximately 13,000 square feet will open at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu early 2028, followed by a larger 14,000-square-foot Alaska Lounge in San Diego later that year.
