Three-time Oscar nominee Sacha Baron Cohen made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon today, appearing in character as his iconic alter-ego, Ali G, as documented in the social media posts below.
Observers suggest the appearance is indeed the authentic Ali G, coming at a time when reports are circulating regarding a new Ali G film being produced under wraps.
The comedic actor, renowned for his ability to prank high-profile figures—including figures such as Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani—is known for keeping his projects highly secretive to maintain the element of surprise. Below, you can see the character, complete with his signature tracksuit and gold chain, in person:

There has been no official announcement that this is the real Ali G. At first I thought it was a tribute act, but now I think it’s the real Sacha. Here’s why:

Distribution details for the upcoming Ali G project have not yet been disclosed. Cohen’s previous work, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, was released by Amazon MGM Studios during the pandemic and earned two Academy Award nominations. His original 2006 film, Borat, was a massive success for 20th Century Fox, grossing $262.5 million worldwide. This new production would mark the first Ali G feature film since 2002’s Ali G Indahouse, which earned over $23 million internationally. The character originally rose to prominence on HBO via Da Ali G Show in the early 2000s.
