Streaming platforms may be a relatively new addition to the music industry, but certain Billboard charts that track plays exclusively on services like Spotify and Apple Music—and focus on a single genre—often feel stuck in the past. While hip‑hop and R&B rankings regularly blend current hits with older tracks, the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart remains one of the most backward‑looking lists published each week.

In this week’s top‑25 rundown, the newest song dates back to 2006. Such a deep‑catalog showing isn’t typical, but the chart is especially quiet right now, with no major fresh entries. That opens room for legacy favorites to reappear, and one band places both of its only charting songs back on the list.

Alice in Chains Returns with Two Hit Singles

Alice in Chains places two tracks on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart this week, and the pair sit side by side. “Man in the Box” re‑enters at No. 24, while “Nutshell” follows immediately at No. 25.

Alice in Chains Nearly Returns to a Career High

“Nutshell” falls just short of its all‑time peak, missing the top spot by a single position. The song previously climbed to No. 24 on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart, a level it reached last December.

“Man in the Box” has performed a touch better. The longstanding favorite rose to No. 18 less than a month after its debut on the chart in July 2024.

Alice in Chains’ Two Hits Have Enjoyed Similar Runs

The two Alice in Chains anthems are close in both peak position and weeks on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs tally. “Nutshell” has now logged 37 weeks on the list, while “Man in the Box” is up to 43 weeks.

Alice in Chains Ties AC/DC and Three Days Grace

With both tracks back on the chart, Alice in Chains ties several other acts for the second‑most entries this week on the Hard Rock Streaming Songs chart. The band shares that spot with AC/DC, which appears with “Thunderstruck” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.” Three Days Grace also holds two spots, with “Animal I Have Become” and “(I Hate) Everything About You” currently present.

Linkin Park adds one more hit. The nu‑metal group occupies three slots with “In the End,” “Numb” and “Somewhere I Belong.”

Alice in Chains’ Dirt Also Charts in America

The only other Alice in Chains release currently charting in the United States is the album Dirt, which sits on the Top Hard Rock Albums list. This week it slips one position to No. 23.

Dirt is one of three Alice in Chains albums that have reached No. 1 on the genre‑specific album chart, alongside The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here and Rainier Fog. Each of those titles spent just a single week at the top. Dirt is also among the ten Alice in Chains albums that have ever appeared on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart; eight of those have cracked the top 10.
