Aligned Marketplace, a national platform for independent advanced and direct primary care practices, has secured $20 million in Series A funding. The capital will focus on expanding its employer network and enhancing patient access to high-quality care.
Headquartered in New York, the company partners with self-funded employers and third-party administrators. It curates a nationwide network of physicians specializing in advanced and direct primary care, allowing patients to access specialty services seamlessly through the same platform if needed. With operations across all 50 states, Aligned Marketplace ensures that over 80% of Americans live within driving distance of at least one participating clinic.
“Traditional practices are increasingly constrained by large networks that limit physician autonomy. Our model connects employers directly with independent primary care providers who prioritize personalized care,” said Patrick Nelli, CEO. “We focus on proactive engagement—identifying at-risk patients early and facilitating tailored care pathways before issues escalate.”
Venrock spearheaded the funding round, bringing Aligned Marketplace’s total capital to $31 million. The company plans to scale its clinic network, refine AI-driven care coordination tools, and expand into value-based specialty care services under this investment, per Nelli.
Bob Kocher, a Venrock partner, emphasized the economic impact: “Strong primary care reduces overall healthcare spending by promoting preventive measures. Aligned Marketplace’s network of accessible, high-touch providers fulfills this need while cutting costs for both employers and patients.”
The company highlights its proven value: A recent evaluation found that Fortune 500 employers using Aligned Marketplace achieved 12% lower healthcare costs per member compared to national averages, saving $96 monthly. Preventive screenings also rose significantly, with mammogram uptake nearly doubling and colonoscopies tripling after initial visits.
Nelli noted systemic challenges: “Over 80% of physicians now work within hospital systems or large corporations that incentivize expensive in-house care. Independent practitioners forming innovative practices struggle to reach dispersed workforces—a gap Aligned Marketplace is designed to bridge.”
“We’ve cultivated direct ties with independent primary care doctors to create a unified marketplace,” Nelli explained. “This allows employers nationwide to access superior care models through a single contractual framework.”
