Aliyah and Absorption Minister Ofir Sofer of the Religious Zionist Party announced on Wednesday that he will not run for re-election.
In his statement, Sofer thanked his supporters and said he would continue to serve in his position until the end of his term.
Religious Zionist Party leader and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded on X/Twitter, expressing regret over Sofer’s upcoming departure from politics.
However, Smotrich added that he respects Sofer’s decision and is confident the aliyah minister will find another way to serve Israel outside of politics.
The development follows Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren of New Hope‑United Right announcing her resignation from the government on Tuesday, stating she could no longer support its decisions.
