Mexican boxer tells Turki Al-Sheikh he fears nothing and will face M’billi in Riyadh on October 31, no matter what.
The world title bout between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Christian M’billi will proceed this month in Saudi Arabia despite attacks on the kingdom’s airports that have killed at least 14 people in Riyadh over two days, Saudi sports promoter Turki Al-Sheikh confirms.
Scheduled for October 31 in the Saudi capital, the bout goes ahead despite the kingdom’s repeated Houthi attacks. Al-Sheikh moved to quell lingering doubts on Sunday.
On Sunday, a projectile struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, killing one person and injuring 11, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.
A Houthi strike on the same airport Saturday killed 13 and injured over 300, marking the deadliest attack on Saudi Arabia in more than a decade.
The Houthis claimed responsibility for all four airport strikes prior to Sunday’s attack, which remains unclaimed by any group.
Alvarez, a multiple-weight world champion, will face WBC super-middleweight titleholder Christian M’billi in a highly anticipated bout.
In a social media post, Al-Sheikh wrote that Alvarez reached out to confirm he would still fight in Riyadh this October, regardless of events, adding that the Mexican boxer fears nothing.
The former two-time undisputed super-middleweight champion has not competed since his September 2025 loss to American Terence Crawford.
