Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 121 for three wickets, with Hetmyer 49 and Hope 47 not out, to defeat Antigua and Barbuda Falcons 116 (Jangoo 37, Shamar 3-22, Tahir 2-25, Pierre 2-19) by seven wickets.
Tahir, who entered the match with two wins from his side’s previous fixtures, won the toss and elected to field. Pierre, opening the bowling, dismissed Rahkeem Cornwall and Karima Gore in the two overs he bowled, reducing the Falcons to 49 for two after the powerplay.
The Falcons looked promising, but their innings deteriorated quickly. By the 12th over, Tahir had dismissed Hasan Nawaz, and Amir Jangoo – who top‑scored with 37 off 29 balls – fell to Glenn Phillips.
Kusal Perera was run out following a moment of panic. The quick bowlers then tightened their grip: Shamar dismissed Joshua James and later cleaned up the tail, while Romario Shepherd also bowled out Moeen Ali.
A target of 117 looked well within reach for the defending champions, despite losing two wickets for 16 runs in the third over. A crucial 99‑run partnership between Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope for the third wicket – completed in just 42 balls – brought Amazon Warriors within two runs of victory.
Hetmyer struck 49 off 19 balls, including a four and two sixes, before becoming the third Amazon Warriors batsman to be dismissed. Quentin Sampson came to the crease, struck the first ball he faced from Shamar Springer for a maximum six, sealing the result. Hope remained unbeaten on 47 off 26 balls, with two fours and four sixes.
Amazon Warriors have now recorded three wins from three matches and top the points table. The Falcons, despite their heavy defeat, sit third with three wins from six games. St Lucia Kings occupy second place between the two sides.
