American Airlines will grow its international network in 2027, adding seven new routes and three fresh destinations, while boosting service between New York and London.

Philadelphia will welcome three new international destinations: Porto (Portugal), Vienna (Austria) and Reykjavik (Iceland). Porto and Vienna represent entirely new additions to American’s network, while service to Reykjavik will resume for the first time since 2019.
Flights from Philadelphia to Porto will launch on March 28, followed by service to Vienna on May 6 and to Reykjavik on May 27.
American will be the sole U.S. carrier offering service to Vienna. The seasonal route is set to run through early January 2028, covering the winter holiday travel period.

From JFK, American will add nonstop service to Amsterdam starting March 28 and to Nice, France, beginning May 6.
American will reinstate a fourth daily flight between JFK and London Heathrow on March 28. In partnership with British Airways, the carriers will operate up to 14 daily flights between New York and London.
Additionally, American will begin service between Chicago O’Hare and Tokyo Narita on March 19 to meet increasing demand during Japan’s cherry‑blossom season.

A new Charlotte‑to‑Barcelona route will launch on May 27, establishing Charlotte as the sixth U.S. gateway for American’s service to Barcelona.
American is accelerating the seasonal launches of its Charlotte‑to‑Paris and Miami‑to‑Milan routes, moving the start dates to March 4 to meet rising demand for spring travel to Europe.
The international expansion follows American’s announcement earlier this month of a comprehensive overhaul of its onboard experience.
The airline stated that more than 800 narrowbody aircraft will eventually be equipped with upgraded entertainment systems offering 4K displays, Bluetooth connectivity and USB‑C charging.
