Although an appearance on the undercard of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is unlikely, Manny Pacquiao could still return to the ring against a former two-time world champion.
Initially, it was reported that the Filipino legend might face four-division world champion Shakur Stevenson at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11.
However, this is no longer considered a possibility, as Stevenson is now targeting a showdown with Devin Haney for later this year.
As for Pacquiao, the 47-year-old has remained out of the ring since July 2025, when he ended a nearly four-year layoff with a draw against then-WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
The former eight-division world champion was then set to face Floyd Mayweather this past September, but their rematch was canceled due to legal issues.
Now, Pacquiao is being linked to a potential clash with Amir Khan, who was eager to face the Hall of Famer when both were closer to their primes.
Despite not having fought since his sixth-round stoppage defeat to Kell Brook in 2022, the 39-year-old Khan has told Metro that he is indeed in talks to face the legendary “Pac Man”.
“There are talks. There’s a lot of interest. I’ve seen numbers which I’m happy with and I’ve seen a location which I’m happy with. Manny has come back to the same team that I’m dealing with and said he would want something as well. Manny is happy.”
Khan went on to deny rumors of them fighting on the Fury-Joshua undercard, with the Olympic silver medalist saying their encounter would likely take place in 2027 if it happens.
