Amy Hunt added further luster to her remarkable week by capturing silver in the women’s 200 metres at the Diamond League event in Lausanne.
Hunt posted a time of 22.32 seconds, edging Nigeria’s Favour Ofili in a close photo finish.
Kayla White of the United States secured victory with a 22.18-second run, while former world champion Shericka Jackson withdrew after sustaining a leg injury on the bend, and two-time Diamond League titleholder Brittany Brown did not start.
Hunt arrived in Switzerland fresh off a historic sweep of four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham.
She claimed gold in the 100m, 200m, women’s 4x100m relay and mixed 4x100m relay, becoming the first athlete ever to win four titles at a single European Championships edition.
The next installment of the Diamond League will be held in Silesia, Poland, on Sunday, 23 August, followed by Zurich, Switzerland, on Thursday, 27 August.
The season will conclude with the final meet in Brussels, Belgium, on the weekend of 4–5 September.
