Anthony Henry, one half of the tag team WorkHorsemen alongside JD Drake, announced he will be sidelined for an extended period after describing his neck as ‘kinda screwed.’
The 42‑year‑old has not competed since July for Ring of Honor and turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share the details.
He said, “My neck is seriously injured. I require surgery because the herniated disc is pressing on the spinal cord, which is particularly concerning. Doctors estimate a recovery window of three to six months.”
Despite the diagnosis, Henry remains optimistic and has no plans to retire.
He added, “I intend to come back as a new, improved, stronger, and more driven version of myself. I’m grateful to AEW and the medical team for their care during this process, and I’m eager to return to AEW as soon as possible.”
Henry made his AEW debut in September 2021 and signed a contract early the following year. Over his career he has appeared 42 times for AEW and 58 times for ROH, competing both solo and with Drake. He was released by AEW in 2024 while rehabilitating a broken jaw incurred on an independent show, but was later rehired. He has also been sidelined by a biceps tear.
I haven’t been active on here, but I at least wanted to give any fans of myself or the #Workhorsemen an update. My neck is kinda screwed. I will need surgery. The herniated disc is on the spinal cord itself, which makes this even more scary. Recovery is anywhere from 3-6 months. pic.twitter.com/bKhKz8F7dC
