Ariana Grande Unveils ‘Petal (The Complete Live Album)’ Exclusively on iTunes

Ariana Grande has unexpectedly released ‘Petal (The Complete Live Album)’ exclusively via iTunes.

On September 8, the artist announced the project on social media. The album features live renditions of all 12 tracks from ‘Petal’, along with a rehearsal recording of the lead single, ‘Hate That I Made You Love Me’, from her ‘Eternal Sunshine’ residency. The record is available for digital purchase exclusively on iTunes.

This release follows Grande’s conclusion of several performances at London’s O2 Arena as part of her tour. She had previously confirmed these would be her final live shows for the foreseeable future, citing a need to “take a step back from visibility” due to “endless, ongoing public scrutiny”.

NME reviewed the opening night at The O2, awarding the performance five stars and describing it as “brilliant business-as-usual before the singer takes a break”.

The publication noted: “For much of the two-hour runtime, Grande’s setlist nimbly mixes gold-plated bops (2016’s dance-pop starburst ‘Into You’; 2019’s sleek R&B gem ‘Thank U, Next’) with vibey and sometimes less immediate deep cuts from ‘Eternal Sunshine’ and her latest album ‘Petal”.

As part of her decision to step back from public life, Grande has also withdrawn from the upcoming West End revival of Sunday In The Park With George, where she was scheduled to appear alongside Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey next summer. She has also reportedly exited the new season of American Horror Story.

Following her announcement to withdraw from public life, Grande reiterated her stance to fans, stating that “multiple things can be true at the same time”.

Addressing fans at a Chicago concert last month, she clarified that her decision was neither “reactive or impulsive.” “It was something that I have decided,” she explained. “A plan that I had quietly made a long time ago. It was a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place.”

“I heard that my fans were worried that negativity was ruining things for me, but I just have to say that could not be further from the truth. This is not what that is. I want to be very clear: multiple things can be true at the same time.”

Regarding her acting career, she is still slated to appear alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the upcoming Meet The Parents sequel Focker-In-Law, set for release in November.

A recently released trailer for the film shows Grande’s character Olivia winning over her future in-laws, except for Ben Stiller‘s Greg, who grows increasingly competitive with her in a series of awkward situations.
