Ariana Madix paid tribute to the late James Barker, a producer for Love Island USA, following his unexpected death as production on Season 8 of the Peacock series was ongoing.
During the celebrations surrounding the Season 8 finale, Madix took a moment to remember Barker and urged fans to support a crowdfunding campaign in his honor.
Madix posted on Instagram Stories, stating that they unexpectedly lost a dear friend this summer and describing James Barker as an exceptionally kind person whose soul radiated warmth. She expressed that she will miss him forever and thanked supporters for any donations or shares, acknowledging the lasting impact he had on their lives.
She shared a GoFundMe link intended to cover the costs of honoring James—including celebration expenses, mortgage payments for the home he shared with his partner, monthly bills, legal fees, and taxes.
Barker passed away in June at age 40 after an unexpected medical emergency, according to ITV America and Peacock.
ITV America and Peacock issued a joint statement expressing that James’ loss has been deeply felt across the entire Love Island USA production and the broader ITV and Peacock community. They described him as a beloved, highly valued member whose kindness, talent, and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and extended heartfelt condolences to his partner, family, friends, and colleagues.
Barker began his television career in 2011 at Leftfield Pictures, serving as a producer on series such as Counting Cars, Forged in Fire, and Pawn Stars. At ITV America, he produced Queer Eye and multiple seasons of Love Island USA and Love Island Games.
