Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi could be set for a move in the upcoming transfer window, with reports suggesting the Spanish international is open to exploring opportunities away from the Emirates Stadium.

While Arsenal reportedly prefer to retain their key squad member mid-season, the lack of consistent starting minutes has fueled ongoing speculation regarding his future. According to recent reports, as many as seven elite European clubs are closely monitoring Zubimendi’s situation and have been made aware of his potential availability.

The list of potential suitors includes some of Europe’s biggest names: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and Liverpool. All of these clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments as the transfer window approaches.

Despite the interest, sources close to the club maintain that Arsenal still view the 27-year-old midfielder as a crucial part of their squad plans. Manager Mikel Arteta, however, has faced intense competition for the midfield role, with Myles Lewis-Skelly establishing himself as the preferred partner for Declan Rice, and the summer arrival of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United further limiting Zubimendi’s opportunities on the pitch.

There is no doubt that Zubimendi possesses the quality to start for any of the top clubs mentioned, having delivered outstanding performances during the first half of last season. Although he experienced a noticeable decline in form later in the campaign, appearing fatigued and less confident, his experience remains highly valuable.

Parting ways with him in the middle of the season carries significant risks, particularly with the ever-present threat of injuries and suspensions. Arteta will likely remain cautious, knowing that squad depth and reliable options like Zubimendi are essential for a successful campaign across multiple competitions.
