Asian hedge funds and asset managers are increasingly turning to listed Brazilian real futures, seeking to capitalize on one of the year’s most lucrative foreign exchange carry trades during their own operating hours.
“We are seeing a significant rise in demand for BRL liquidity from our Asian clients,” said Vishal Shah, global head of emerging markets linear FX and rates trading at Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking. “To meet this need, we are providing quotes for Brazilian, Mexican, and Andean markets out of Hong Kong ahead of the local market open.”
