UK sanctions targeting illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank have prompted a series of Israeli measures against British nationals and organisations.
The sanctions followed Israel’s decision to invite tenders for settlement housing in the strategically significant E1 area east of Jerusalem, a move widely condemned internationally.
Construction in the area would effectively split the West Bank in two and isolate East Jerusalem.
The BBC’s Middle East correspondent, Lucy Williamson, visited the Palestinian village of Khan al-Ahmar in the E1 area and the neighbouring Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim.
