Belfast Council Approves BBC Studio Integration Deal
The Belfast City Council has approved a partnership with BBC for the upcoming Belfast Stories project.
Full details of the proposed agreement remain confidential, but the discussions center around leveraging a large studio space within the new development. Key terms suggest the BBC will utilize the facilities for approximately 140 days annually over a minimum ten-year period.
The arrangement will ensure the space is shared fairly, maintaining access for other cultural and educational initiatives such as exhibitions, film screenings, and public events. This development aims to enhance the area’s tourism appeal through a blend of historical narratives and modern storytelling.
The project location is set at the former Bank of Ireland site, strategically positioned at the intersection of Royal Avenue and North Street. Funding and operational plans are currently under negotiation with the council and broadcasting bodies.
