Blue Bendy is set to release their upcoming record, One Day This Will All Be Lore, early next year. Serving as the follow-up to their 2024 debut of absurdist indie-pop confessionals, So Medieval, the album arrives on January 29, 2027. Following a brief hiatus and the departure of two founding members, the project is accompanied by a new music video directed by the London-based band’s own synthesist, Olivia Morgan.
According to a press release, the exit of co-founders Harrison Charles and Oscar Tebbutt is linked to frontperson Arthur Nolan’s struggles with alcoholism (Nolan is pictured crouching in the foreground). Charles and Tebbutt are replaced by bassist Dina Willcock and drummer Tristan Petsola, while original guitarists Joe Nash and Oliver Chester-Nolan, alongside Morgan and Nolan, complete the lineup. A 2025 episode in which a recovering Nolan relapsed, was stranded in Germany, and subsequently awoke in a sanatorium in Cologne is documented in the album track “The Tiger Who Came to Tea.”
Nolan says of “Dragonslayer,” “I was trying to subvert some Arthurian chivalry in a modern context. Especially as that medieval period is such a traditionally idolised time. Trying to look at Nationalistic mythology wrapped in a tragicomic romantic pop song, and the fantasies that any musician tells themself about fame, living in your own head.”
Regarding the video, Morgan commented, “I got a camera earlier this year and decided to try and answer every question I’ve ever had and analyze why everyone does any of the things they do in a four-and-a-half-minute sequence of videos. I’ve never made a music video before or done much with film, but I want to learn how to do that, so this is experiment one.”
