Two days after removing previous social media posts criticizing the 49ers for not releasing him, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk returned to Instagram with a new video. In the footage, he is seen dancing while wearing a robe and boxer shorts. The caption reads “coming to an endzone near [you].”
This latest post, combined with his earlier decision to delete critical content, raises questions about whether the 49ers may abandon their trade efforts and instead release Aiyuk in the near future. Such a move would prevent the awkward scenario of Aiyuk attending training camp and forcing a release.
The team’s stance of refusing to release Aiyuk while pursuing a trade has limited his ability to integrate into a new team’s offseason program. Continuing this approach risks overshadowing the 49ers’ broader strategic goals.
A resolution, akin to their handling of quarterback Trey Lance, would allow the organization to refocus on positive developments and avoid lingering distractions as training camp approaches.
