Britain’s Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool extended their Wimbledon men’s doubles campaign with a thrilling three-set victory, positioning themselves as strong contenders for the title.
The pair became the first all-British duo to claim the men’s doubles crown since 1936 when they triumphed in the 2025 final against Rinky Hijikata and David Pel.
The third-seeded team moved another step closer to defending their championship by defeating third-seeded Petr Nouza and Neil Oberleitner in a tense 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 encounter.
Their next challenge awaits in the quarterfinals against sixth seeds Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador and Croatia’s Mate Pavic.
However, not all British pairs advanced, as fifth seeds Neal Skupski and Christian Harrison were narrowly eliminated by unseeded Australians Thanasi Kokkinakis and Aleksandar Kovacevic in a marathon 7-6(4), 7-6(5) battle.
In mixed doubles, Skupski and partner Desirae Krawczyk also exited, falling to sixth seeds Pavic and Hungary’s Fanny Stollar in two tightly contested sets (7-6(2), 7-6(5)).
Glasspool’s mixed doubles journey concluded alongside Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, who were overcome by Harrison and China’s Zhang Shuai after a dramatic comeback from behind (6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3).
