The Denver Broncos secured a hard-fought 17-14 overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night, powered by a clutch defensive stand and a late game-winning field goal. Will Lutz kicked a 53-yard field goal at Mile High Stadium to secure the win, moving the Broncos to 4-2 while dropping the defending champion Seahawks to 3-3.

Seattle took an early first-quarter lead with a Jason Myers field goal, but the Broncos responded with two scoring drives in the second quarter. One drive culminated in a four-yard touchdown run by JK Dobbins, while the other saw RJ Harvey cross the goal line from one yard out.

Denver’s offense struggled to find the end zone again, managing only 168 total yards compared to Seattle’s 353. However, the Broncos kept the game within reach thanks to a spectacular defensive effort that featured five sacks and two interceptions of Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold.

Darnold completed just 27 of 51 pass attempts with a quarterback rating of 52.6. Despite the poor efficiency, he managed to engineer two scoring drives in the fourth quarter to force overtime, as Denver’s offense struggled to move the ball consistently. Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had an underwhelming outing, throwing for only 107 yards.

Seattle’s comeback effort was spearheaded by George Holani, who ran in from one yard out following an 11-play, 67-yard drive with five minutes remaining. Darnold then converted the two-point conversion to Rashid Shaheed via a tipped catch at the back of the end zone, bringing Seattle within three points.

The Seahawks defense held firm, and after a strong kick return by Shaheed gave Seattle excellent field position with less than a minute left, Myers successfully kicked a 34-yard field goal to send the game into overtime. However, on their first possession in OT, Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillan intercepted a pass intended for Shaheed, setting up the game-winning field position that allowed Lutz to kick the winner.
