A Hampshire Police investigation into the flashpoint concluded that no further action was required, and Bielik received a Community Resolution Order.
He also issued a written apology to the supporter before facing FA charges.
Bielik’s disciplinary case was reviewed by an independent regulatory commission last week; the full written reasons for the verdict disclosed the defender’s assertion that his family had been subjected to death threats.
The claim formed part of Bielik’s mitigation plea, which the commission characterised as “regrettable and to be deplored,” but noted it did not affect the sanction, especially given the lack of supporting evidence.
Cardiff manager Brian Barry‑Murphy also voiced his support, describing the 11‑time Poland international as a “consummate professional”.
In his own statement, Bielik explained that he expected the ball to be handed to him by the fan, said he “[I] placed my hand on his shoulder and pushed away as I moved back,” and added that his reaction stemmed partly from frustration and partly from momentum.
The FA contested this account, arguing that the proximity of the contact to the neck risked inflaming the crowd – a view the commission shared, adding that the incident “clearly created the potential for a mass confrontation and could have led to a dangerous situation”.
Bielik expressed regret and maintained that he did not retaliate despite being struck in the face during the incident. The commission acknowledged this as commendable but stated it could not diminish his culpability for the initial action, although they accepted other mitigating factors in reducing the ban from the three‑game starting point.
