Carla Jeffery, Actress Known for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and Disney’s ‘Zombies’ Franchise, Dies at 33

Carla Jeffery, who portrayed Keysha Black in a recurring role on Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and starred as Bree in Disney’s Zombies franchise across films and an animated series, has died.

Her representative, Alexanders Talent Management, confirmed on Instagram that the actress passed away on Tuesday. The cause of death was not disclosed. She was 33 years old.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Carla Jeffery,” the post stated. “For over two decades, Carla was a cherished member of the Alexanders Talent Management family. Watching her grow from a talented young girl into a beautiful, vibrant actress was an extraordinary privilege.

“We will always remember her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the radiant light she brought everywhere she went,” the post added.

Jeffery portrayed Keysha Black, the daughter of Loretta Black (Vivica A. Fox), in a recurring role across 10 episodes spanning Seasons 6 and 7 of Curb Your Enthusiasm in 2007 and 2009.

In 2018, Jeffery starred as Bree in the Disney Channel original family adventure-horror film Zombies. She reprised the role in Zombies 2 (2020) and Zombies 3 (2022). She also voiced Bree in the animated series Zombies: The Reanimated Series, which aired on Disney Channel and Disney+ for two seasons in 2024 and 2026.

Born Carla Jaran Jeffery on July 10, 1993, in Houston, she made her screen debut in the 2006 Mo’Nique comedy Phat Girls, portraying the 10-year-old version of Mo’Nique’s character, Jazmin Biltmore.

After brief appearances in the series Miss Guided (2008), iCarly, and Lie to Me (both 2009), Jeffery secured a recurring role as Janila on the police procedural Southland, appearing in four episodes of the series’ first season in 2010.

Following her recurring role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jeffery appeared as a guest in numerous series, including Men of a Certain Age, Good Luck Charlie, Torchwood, Suburgatory, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Uncle Buck, and Scream Queens.

In 2017, Jeffery played a recurring role in the Netflix true-crime satire/mockumentary American Vandal. In 2020, she provided a guest voice as Mania in the animated series Spider-Man.

Her film credits included supporting roles in Keegan-Michael Key’s 2014 comedy-drama Teacher of the Year, the 2015 family drama Girl on the Edge, and the 2020 drama Puzzled.
