Carlton Football Club has confirmed that two of its players, Lachie Cowan and Will Hayward, were taken to hospital on Sunday morning following separate incidents.
The club issued a statement on Sunday after media reports that unnamed players had been taken to hospital by ambulance after a night out. Guardian Australia approached Carlton for comment.
According to the statement, Cowan received medical treatment and was observed before being discharged shortly thereafter, with no further details on the nature of the incident.
Hayward was also admitted to hospital that same morning.
“Will Hayward suffered a minor head cut after a fall, sought hospital treatment voluntarily, received stitches and was later discharged,” Carlton said.
“The club has remained in close contact with both players, prioritising their wellbeing, and both have now received the necessary care related to their respective incidents.”
