In August 2026, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) withdrew US$579 million from the domestic foreign exchange market.
This move helped strengthen Sri Lanka’s foreign exchange position, with gross official reserves provisionally estimated at US$6.6 billion at the end of July.
CBSL data further indicated that outstanding central government debt stood at Rs. 30.53 trillion by the end of April.
