The Ghanaian cedi depreciated against the US dollar on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, reversing gains from the previous Saturday session.
On the retail forex market, the local currency averaged a buying rate of GHS11.45 and a selling rate of GHS11.89, representing a one-pesewa decline on both sides. Forex bureaus quoted the dollar at GHS11.75 for purchases and GHS12.20 for sales, according to data tracked by Cedirates.com.
On the Bank of Ghana interbank market, the cedi traded at GHS11.12 for buying and GHS11.13 for selling.
Against the British pound, forex bureaus offered average buying and selling rates of GHS15.19 and GHS16.23, respectively, while the interbank rate stood at GHS15.18. The euro changed hands at GHS13.00 for buying and GHS13.93 for selling at bureaus, compared to an interbank rate of GHS12.99.
In the remittance sector, LemFi and Taptap Send both offered a dollar rate of GHS11.15 for transfers from the US or UK. For pound sterling remittances, both platforms quoted GHS15.19, while euro transfers were priced at GHS13.02 each.
For digital subscription payments—including Netflix, Spotify, and Apple Music—via Visa and Mastercard, the applicable exchange rates were GHS12.09 and GHS11.99, respectively.
