A world record of 51 red cards were shown during a highly chaotic under-20s match in Brazil.

The semi-final first leg of the Minas Gerais Under-20 Championship between Uberlandia and Mamore was marred by unprecedented scenes, resulting in 43 players and eight coaching staff members being sent off.

The previous world record stood at 36 red cards, set during a 2011 fifth-division match in Argentina between Club Atletico Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.

According to local news outlet O Tempo, the military police were summoned to the Parque do Sabia Stadium due to extensive property damage caused during the disorder.

The referee’s report indicated that the mass brawl ignited in the second half after Mamore’s player, Davi, taunted the opposition bench during celebrations following a 3-1 lead.

Uberlandia’s goalkeeping coach, Paulo Sergio Dias Dos Santos, sprinted onto the pitch to confront Davi, triggering widespread clashes and the cascade of dismissals. Three players had already been sent off earlier in the match.

The official police report documented severe damage, including 14 broken doors, damaged shower facilities, shattered windows, and destroyed benches, tables, and chairs.

The match was suspended for roughly 40 minutes before being officially abandoned by referee Fernando Patrick Drosghic Modesto.

Uberlandia has since confirmed they will concede the second leg of the semi-final, as Mamore is left with only seven players available due to the mass red cards.

The club described the decision as a “gesture of fair play,” allowing Mamore to advance to the final, while Uberlandia will redirect its focus toward the third-place play-off.
