Charli XCX explains why there are only six dates on upcoming UK and European tour: “Touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me”

In response to fan backlash over the limited number of concerts on her imminent “Music, Fashion, Film” tour, Charli XCX has explained her decision to book only six dates across the UK and Europe.

Charli launched the “Music, Fashion, Film” arena tour, set to debut in 2027. Audrey Hobert will open every show as a special guest performer. General ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. BST on Friday, September 18; purchase options are available online and a complete list of venues can be found elsewhere.

The itinerary comprises six shows in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester, London, Amsterdam and Paris, all scheduled for February. Some fans expressed disappointment that additional European locations were omitted.

Charli clarified that this abbreviated schedule mirrors the brief tour profile of her prior North American run, which began with a Philadelphia concert on September 11.

Following her public outcry, she reflected on her own artistic philosophy: “I know there’s a lot of frustration in the comments about the fact that I am not doing lots of dates. I am really sorry if you feel disappointed but I have to honor my truth as an artist: touring is really emotionally and physically hard for me.”

She also discussed her battle with mental health, stating in June that she was “in the worst place mentally that I’ve ever been” and that her emotions were highly volatile at the moment.

Last year, NME reviewed her Reading & Leeds appearance with a four‑star rating, calling the set a stylish, cinematic experience that occasionally fell short. The review noted the early start time—the singer “thrives in the dark”—and praised the “incredibly powerful ending,” while wishing the set could have landed even harder.

During her North American tour, Charli offered a limited $25 (“Angel”) ticket option, providing randomly selected seats at various price points including balcony-level and floor‑standing areas.

Independent recognition followed when she received two MTV Video Music Awards nominations—Best Pop and Best Art Direction—for her single “ΣS26.” She previously performed with The Strokes at Outside Lands and teamed up with Lorde at Lollapalooza.

Charli subsequently released the “Music, Fashion, Film” B‑sides and accompanied the release with an official music film, continuing to push creative boundaries.
