Charli XCX Hosts Global Listening Parties for ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ Ahead of July Release
Charli XCX has announced a series of album listening events for her upcoming ‘Music, Fashion, Film’ project, set to take place in independent cinemas worldwide on July 9–11. The sessions will span the UK, North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Japan. Details and ticket information are available on her website, accessible by selecting specific locations.
The UK events will feature the Castle Cinema in London and the Savoy Cinema in Stockport, among others. Pre-orders for the album, slated for release on July 24, are also open via her site. Previews of tracks such as ‘Wink Wink,’ ‘Rock Music,’ and ‘SS26’ have already been shared.
The album’s black-and-white cover, photographed by Aidan Zamiri, features collaborators John Cale, Marc Jacobs, and Martin Scorsese. Earlier this year, Charli referenced lyrics from ‘Rock Music’ in an interview with British Vogue, sparking speculation about a rock-oriented direction. She clarified she was not pursuing a rock album but noted a deliberate shift from the sound of her 2024 release, *Brat*.
The announcement follows her recent confirmation of a North American tour later this year. Dates and tickets are available for purchase. Previously, Charli shared that hanging out with Madonna in Paris was “very inspiring,” despite Madonna’s remarks about the evolving dancefloor scene.
Charli has also discussed personal challenges, including navigating online discourse and her mental health. Reflecting on her mixed-race identity, she described it as “difficult” to reconcile, particularly in relation to the themes in her track ‘SS26.’
She is set to headline Reading & Leeds Festival in August, joined by Fontaines D.C., Raye, Florence + The Machine, Dave, and Chase & Status. Tickets are available here.
The designer of the *Brat* album cover recently shared insights into the design process and the evolution of the iconic imagery.
