(MedPage Today) — BALTIMORE — A new comparative analysis reveals that ChatGPT provides generally accurate responses to patient questions about assisted reproductive technology (ART), yet falls short of comprehensive accuracy compared to established medical society educational resources.

The study evaluated the AI system’s performance when addressing common patient inquiries related to in vitro fertilization and other fertility treatments, measuring response quality against gold-standard clinical guidance materials.

Researchers assessed ChatGPT’s answers using standard medical evaluation criteria, finding the system demonstrated notable proficiency in basic patient education scenarios while exhibiting limitations in nuanced, complex reproductive health topics.
