Caicedo doubtful for Sunderland trip

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is doubtful for the Premier League match against Sunderland on Sunday with a calf problem.

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo is set to be a major doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland, dealing a blow to the team’s midfield options. The Ecuador international picked up a minor calf injury during Chelsea’s recent victory over Manchester United and has since missed training sessions.

Manager Alonso confirmed that Caicedo is experiencing discomfort and will undergo further assessment to determine the severity of the issue. “He had some minor problems after the last game. We expect to check him tomorrow. Moi is one of them. It’s a discomfort, more than the calf,” Alonso stated.

After enduring an injury-plagued start to the season, Caicedo only became a regular fixture in the starting lineup following the first international break. Since then, he has established himself as a key player for the west London club. However, his potential absence would be a significant setback as Chelsea travel to face the league’s bottom side, Sunderland. Despite their poor standing, the Black Cats present a tough challenge on their home turf, requiring Chelsea to perform at their absolute best to secure a victory.
