Chelsea have reportedly largely agreed personal terms with Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, according to Simon Phillips.
The England international has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising young midfielders in recent seasons, making a move to a top club increasingly likely.
Following Enzo Fernández’s summer departure to Manchester City, Chelsea are in urgent need of midfield reinforcement, and Scott appears to be an ideal candidate to replace the Argentina international.
Phillips reports that the Blues have verbally settled all personal arrangements with Scott since the summer, positioning them to finalize the deal by January 1st as the transfer window opens.
“That seems to be the aim, according to Phillips, with Chelsea hoping to complete things with Bournemouth as soon as possible so this deal can go through right at the start of the next transfer window.”

Chelsea looking to win race for Alex Scott
There’s no guarantee Chelsea will secure the player, but they appear serious about beating rivals to his signature. Liverpool have also been linked, though recent reports suggest the Reds are evaluating Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha as a more affordable alternative, given the potential cost of signing Scott.
Having worked effectively under Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth, Scott could be enticed to join the manager again, should Iraola move to Anfield. Nonetheless, Chelsea currently hold the advantage in the pursuit and possess ample funds following Fernández’s sale.
Xabi Alonso’s side have made a mixed start to the season, so strengthening in midfield makes sense as a priority for the winter window.
Scott looks ideal to improve CFC in a problem position and perhaps give them a better chance of a strong second half to the season.
