Former Premier League star Joleon Lescott has urged Chelsea to sign Manchester City defender John Stones on a free transfer. Stones is set to leave City this summer upon the expiration of his contract and has been linked with a potential return to Everton, though several other Premier League clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Lescott believes Stones would be a valuable addition to Chelsea, citing his experience and professional attributes. “I would sign him for Chelsea,” Lescott stated. “He’s a top professional, top player; he’d have the respect of the group because of what he’s done. He’s achieved more than they’ve achieved as a group.”

This recommendation comes amidst recent comments from Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella, who highlighted a perceived lack of experienced signings as a factor in the club’s recent struggles. The Blues have notably focused on acquiring players aged 23 or younger, a strategy that has coincided with a challenging campaign. It remains to be seen if the west London club will revise its transfer policy to prioritize more established, impactful signings.
