Chelsea are expected to keep reshaping their squad this summer, with Axel Disasi emerging as another defender likely to leave Stamford Bridge.
According to The Athletic, Disasi has been placed on Chelsea’s “for sale” list after spending the second half of the season on loan at West Ham United.
The decision comes as little surprise, given how crowded Chelsea’s defensive department has become in recent seasons.
Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco in 2023 and made an immediate impression by scoring on his debut.
Chelsea’s official website later confirmed that he made 44 appearances during his first season at Stamford Bridge before gradually slipping down the pecking order.
West Ham loan helped rebuild Disasi’s value
His loan move to West Ham was confirmed in February, with the Hammers announcing the deal through their club website.
The switch gave him a fresh opportunity to play regularly, and he reportedly became an important part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s defensive setup.
That spell could now help Chelsea generate interest in the defender. Enquiries have already been made about Disasi, although West Ham were not expected to make the loan permanent.
A summer sale makes sense for Chelsea
From Chelsea’s perspective, selling Disasi appears to be a practical squad-management decision rather than a dramatic one.
The club have invested heavily in younger defenders, leaving limited room for a player who is no longer central to their plans.
Disasi still offers Premier League experience, international pedigree and resale value, making him an asset Chelsea could use to raise useful funds.
For the 27-year-old, a permanent move may also be the best next step. Regular football is likely to be a priority after falling down the order at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been ruthless in recent transfer windows, and Disasi’s potential departure looks like another effort to trim the squad, balance the books and create space for the next phase of their rebuild.
