Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad finalised a four-player trade on Wednesday, November 5, ahead of the IPL 2027 season. England all-rounder Liam Livingstone headlines the move to the five-time champions, joining CSK from SRH at a reduced fee of INR 6 crore, down from his original valuation of INR 13 crore.
Australian seam-bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards moves from SRH to CSK valued at INR 3 crore. In the opposite direction, left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed departs CSK for SRH at INR 4.8 crore, and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis joins SRH from CSK at INR 2 crore.
The deal encompasses players from three different nationalities, blending batting and bowling capabilities in one of the season’s most significant franchise-to-franchise transfers.
What is the background of each player involved in the trade?
Liam Livingstone is a recognised England white-ball all-rounder who previously featured in the SRH setup. His move to CSK at a negotiated fee of INR 6 crore—down from an original valuation of INR 13 crore—underscores the mutually agreed nature of the trade between the two franchises.
Jack Edwards, an Australian seam-bowling all-rounder, was signed by SRH ahead of IPL 2026 but missed the entire season due to a foot injury, remaining debut-less in the league. His transfer to CSK at INR 3 crore provides a fresh opportunity to feature in the tournament.
Khaleel Ahmed brings substantial IPL experience to SRH. During IPL 2025, he claimed 15 wickets in 14 matches for CSK, having previously represented the franchise in 2018 and 2021. A right quadriceps injury limited him to just five appearances in IPL 2026, but SRH will be well acquainted with his capabilities at peak form.
Nathan Ellis, renowned for his death-overs effectiveness and variations, moves from CSK to SRH at INR 2 crore, adding further pace options to the Hyderabad side for IPL 2027.
