Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi declared plans for a sit-in outside the National Assembly if allowed no meeting with Imran Khan in prison by June 9. He emphasized this as a legitimate democratic action after exhausting constitutional options, coinciding with groundbreaking for a Ring Road underpass project.
Addressing the Kabootar Chowk Underpass inauguration, Afridi outlined provincial development priorities. The Rs1.989 billion project aims to modernize Peshawar’s infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance public services.
The upcoming budget will prioritize low-income and marginalized groups, aligning with Imran Khan’s vision.
Affirming public support for Khan’s medical care, Afridi stated the government’s focus on welfare programs, youth employment, and economic inclusivity. New policies include interest-free financing for entrepreneurs and minority communities.
Earlier comments highlighted unresolved federal fiscal obligations, stalled projects (including Swat Dam and Peshawar Bus Terminal), and security burdens on the province. The CM also announced groundbreaking dates for multiple underpasses, including PDA Toll Plaza (Rs1.681 billion, June 13) and Hazarkhwani (Rs1.257 billion, June 20).
