Chiefs rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane reports steady improvement in his shoulder injury

The rookie cornerback donned a yellow non-contact jersey during his inaugural training camp practice, reflecting the shoulder injury he sustained in the offseason. He added that he expects to be fully cleared “sometime soon, for sure.”

“It’s improving steadily, getting better each day,” Delane noted. “My primary focus now is finding my footing and adjusting to the conditioning regimen.”

While his shoulder recuperates, Delane has been reviewing the playbook and performing whatever conditioning he can manage. He admitted that the injury stemmed from pushing too hard during organized team activities, but he recognizes the need to ease up in training camp, reserving his full intensity for the regular season.

“Tempering my natural aggression will be challenging,” Delane said, “but playing smart is essential. In the NFL, protecting your teammates comes first.”

The Chiefs moved up to select Delane with the sixth overall pick, confident he will make a significant impact once the season begins.
