Tight end Chig Okonkwo joined the Commanders after recording 162 receptions over three seasons with the Titans, expressing confidence that the move will prove fruitful for him.
Although Okonkwo was productive during his time with the Titans, he has already discovered ‘so many more opportunities to run different routes’ since joining the Commanders. He believes the offense being crafted by offensive coordinator David Blough will enable him to showcase his true talents and abilities.
“I feel like this is the place where I can finally just unleash,” Okonkwo said, according to the team’s website.
Jayden Daniels frequently targeted Zach Ertz during the 2024 season, demonstrating his comfort with throwing to tight ends. Consequently, the expectation in Washington is for continued utilization of tight ends, despite the recent change in play-callers following the 2024 season.
