Sydney Sixers have bolstered their squad for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) campaign by re-signing a veteran familiar to the club. The England international has agreed to a one-year deal as the franchise aims to construct a formidable roster for the season ahead.
This signing concludes a three-year chapter with the Hobart Hurricanes, returning the experienced T20 professional to Sydney. Jordan brings extensive global exposure and proficiency with both bat and ball, with his specialist death-bowling skills anticipated to be a significant asset for the Sixers.
England all-rounder returns after three seasons away
Chris Jordan returns to the Sydney Sixers, having previously represented the club during BBL|11 and BBL|12. He subsequently spent three seasons with the Hobart Hurricanes, having also featured for the Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Thunder, and Perth Scorchers throughout his Big Bash tenure.
The move means Jordan will have played for five different BBL franchises. He was also a key member of the England squad that secured the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where his composure and capacity to perform under pressure proved vital to the team’s success.
Sixers strengthen their bowling options for BBL|16
Jordan is expected to provide crucial depth to the Sixers’ bowling unit, particularly in the final overs. He joins Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, and Fergus O’Neill within the pace-bowling group. The reunion may also see him partner again with Sydney Sixers coach Matthew Mott, the former England boss who led the national side to the 2022 T20 World Cup title with Jordan playing a pivotal role.
Commenting on his return, Jordan stated that he cherished his prior time with the Sixers and was eager to come back. He emphasized the club’s storied history, dedicated fan base, and unwavering drive for championships, noting his anticipation for reconnecting with the squad and contributing to success in BBL|16.
