The United States’ World Cup run ended earlier than expected after a 4‑1 loss to Belgium, prompting scrutiny of Christian Pulisic’s performance in the team’s most crucial match.
After the match, Pulisic’s post‑game remarks were viewed by many as detached, sparking debate over his level of urgency and commitment in what was arguably the biggest game of his career.
Pulisic told reporters, “I twisted my ankle and knee on the same play. I’ll have time to recover; it’s just an unfortunate way to end the tournament.”
