During the Panthers’ first training camp practice on Thursday, outside linebacker Nic Scourton sustained a right‑knee injury, head coach Dave Canales confirmed at his post‑practice press conference.
“They’re going to look at that and get some imaging and we’ll inform you as soon as we have further details,” Canales said.
Although Scourton appeared visibly upset after being carted off the field, indicating a potentially serious injury, Canales declined to speculate on its severity.
“I hope for the best,” Canales said. “We’ll wait for complete imaging before making any announcements.”
If Scourton is sidelined for an extended period, Canales expressed confidence in the depth of his edge‑rushers.
“We have depth and talent at the position,” Canales said. “Jaelen Phillips, Pat Jones, and Princely Umanmielen are all part of the roster.”
“We rely on a strong group of players,” Canales added. “If needed, we’ll trust those individuals to step up, but we’ll wait for further information before deciding.”
